don't wanna tell you the truth
Jan. 26th, 2018 10:31 pmIt had already been a ridiculous day, spent debating yet again the business of this 'proposed arrangement' (why they kept calling it that when half the conversation was about how there really was no choice,) why it had to happen, and how. He was tired enough at this point of rehashing this ground that he actually found himself almost wishing they could get it over with just to stop talking about it.
He didn't say that out loud, of course.
And then they told him that he was going to meet her at this ridiculous - Lord, even he found himself repetitive when he was irritated - dinner tonight. Sure, he'd make a great impression like this. He had a drink, an attempt to take the edge off that didn't really work, before hand, but he was still sure he wasn't faking a smile well when they - she - was due to arrive.
